Nordic Travel Retail Group focuses on CSR
Members of the Nordic Travel Retail Group will meet on September 3rd 2009 in Copenhagen to be inspired and discuss corporate social responsibility. Representatives from the Toms Group, Danish biotech company Novozymes and Copenhagen Business School will present information, viewpoints, best practice and lessons learned.
On Thursday September 3rd, the Danish confectionary company Toms Group will host the Nordic Travel Retail Group members’ meeting ‘Corporate Responsibility in a truly global world’. CEO Jesper Møller, Toms Group, will give the first presentation on the Group’s good and bad experiences as a truly global company.
“For us, Corporate Social Responsibility is about how we can make voluntary contributions to solve national and global challenges. We share this responsibility with many other industries, and we have the same opportunities to make it a good business too. It all depends on our ability to be proactive, to set our own agenda and to engage on a broad scale,” says Erik Thomsen, Chairman of the Nordic Travel Retail Group.
Contributions from Mads Madsen, Vice President at Novozymes, and Mette Morsing, Professor at Copenhagen Business School, Center for Corporate Responsibility, will follow the Toms presentation.
“It is a great pleasure to present such prominent speakers to our members. We are excited to learn from their experiences and we are open to their ideas of how we as an industry should work with CSR. The current financial crisis was partly caused by some businesses not understanding their broader ethical responsibilities,“ says Erik Thomsen and continues. “We believe it is important that our industry learns from their mistake and with this meeting starts a discussion regarding to the future culture of ethics and responsibility within Nordic Travel Retail.”
