‘Looking back – Moving on’ was the thematic take-off for NTRS 2009 wich took the Nordic Travel Retail industry into the future. Chairman of the Nordic Travel Retail Group Erik Thomsen welcomed the participants from the travel retail industry to NTRS 2009 and the future before he handed over the microphone to Dermot Davitt from The Moodie Report who was moderating the ambitious programme of the day.

Moving on

Keynote speaker Bill Webb from The London College of Fashion was the first speaker on the list of prominent authorities who one after the other presented future challenges and posibilities to the industry. Dermot Davitt, Deputy Publisher from The Moodie Report moderated the whole seminar which also included presentations from futurist Marianne Levinsen and executive member of BEUC Rasmus Kjeldahl. The seminar culminated in a industry panal debate with particpants from travel retail heavyweights Inflight Service, The Nuance Group, Valora Trade and British American Tobacco International.

“We are very pleased with this years programme and the participants response to the speakers and the presentations which we have met with. I has indeed been our aim to help the industry to find ways to go round the crisis and into the future and the atmosphere at NTRS 2009 proved that we have succeeded with stimulating initiative and at the same time pointed out possible directions,” says NTRG-chairman Erik Thomsen.

During the whole day in Copehagen the participants of NTRS 2009 enjoyed and bennefitted from being together with business contacts. The transport from the conference venue to the evening dinner restaurant was a guided tour of the Copenhagen Harbour and Canals with great opportunities for networking and for learning more about Copenhagen from the author and journalist Gregers Dirckinck-Holmfeld who was the capable and entertaining tour guide.
