70 Years of Duty Free and Travel Retail
As the duty free & travel retail industry celebrates the 70th anniversary of the opening of the first airport duty free shop in Shannon, Ireland, TFWA is marking the occasion with a visual campaign designed to remind travelers of the positive contribution our industry makes to the world of travel.
“The 70th anniversary of our industry gives us a wonderful opportunity to tell people why duty free and travel retail matters – whether it’s at airports, on board ferries and cruise ships, at the border, downtown or during a flight,” says TFWA president Erik Juul-Mortensen.
The Nordic Travel Retail Group supports the campaign by bringing forth some of the campaign material in Tuesday Update and TFWA invites industry partners around the world – airports, airlines, cruiselines, ferries, retailers and brands – to use the visuals of the campaign.

Nordström to take us even further into the future of changes, opportunities and challenges.
Kjell A. Nordström is a Swedish a guru of the new world of business. In 2009 he made it into Thinkers 50.
Former Prime Minister of Sweden, Mr. Fredrik Reinfeldt is previously announced to be this year’s opening keynote and spearheading what will become an exclusive speaker line-up.
Further announcements of speakers will be made on our website and in our newsletter Tuesday Update.
