70 Years of Duty Free and Travel Retail

As the duty free & travel retail industry celebrates the 70th anniversary of the opening of the first airport duty free shop in Shannon, Ireland, TFWA is marking the occasion with a visual campaign designed to remind travelers of the positive contribution our industry makes to the world of travel.

“The 70th anniversary of our industry gives us a wonderful opportunity to tell people why duty free and travel retail matters – whether it’s at airports, on board ferries and cruise ships, at the border, downtown or during a flight,” says TFWA president Erik Juul-Mortensen.

The Nordic Travel Retail Group supports the campaign by bringing forth some of the campaign material in Tuesday Update and TFWA invites industry partners around the world – airports, airlines, cruiselines, ferries, retailers and brands – to use the visuals of the campaign.

NTRS 2017: Happy Renunion with Closing Keynote

In 2016 Mr. Kjell A. Nordström carried away the attendees onboard Teaterskeppet in Stockholm at a very kjell-a-nordstromsuccessful Nordic Travel Retail Seminar.

Following the impressive feedback from the attendees and the fact that Kjell A. Nordström was far from delivering his last messages and insights when being applauded at the end of the seminar, the Nordic Travel Retail Group has invitet Kjell A. Nordström to take us even further into the future of changes, opportunities and challenges.

Kjell A. Nordström is a Swedish a guru of the new world of business. In 2009 he made it into Thinkers 50.

Former Prime Minister of Sweden, Mr. Fredrik Reinfeldt is previously announced to be this year’s opening keynote and spearheading what will become an exclusive speaker line-up.

Further announcements of speakers will be made on our website and in our newsletter Tuesday Update.

The moderator of NTRS 2017 will be Dermot Davitt, Co-Owner and President at The Moodie Davitt Report. We are happy to have Dermot Davitt moderating Nordic Travel Retail Seminar again this year, and we are confident, that this too will be a happy renunion in every sense.
